Household Tips

Bathroom - Hairbrush & Comb

  • Use a long tooth comb to remove hair from the bristles of your brush. Insert the comb at the bottom of the bristles and draw up ward. Work your way around the perimeter of the brush.
  • Use a combination of baking soda and hot water to clean hairbrushes and combs.
  • Soaking in soapy water to which a teaspoon of ammonia is added to cut the grease, can clean both nylon and natural fibre bristles.
  • Nylon brushes (including the handle) can be sterilized in boiling water. Do not use this method if the handle is acrylic plastic, which may melt.
  • Wood brushes should never be emerged in water.
