Oven Racks

  • Try cleaning in the bathtub. You have enough room to allow the racks to soak. Don’t forget to place an old towel on the bottom of your tub to prevent scratching. Fill tub with enough hot water to cover. Add ¼ cup of ammonia and let soak for a couple of hours. Then scrub with a SOS pad or baking soda.

  • Stove Top

  • To clean up spills, sprinkle immediately with salt. When the oven is cooled off, brush away the burnt on food with a damp sponge.

  • Or sprinkle with automatic dishwashing powder, cover with wet paper towels, let it stand for a few hours, then clean with a damp sponge.

  • Heating coils on top of an electric stove usually don’t need washing. Instead, turn them on high to burn off small spills. Massive spills should be clean as best as possible when the coil cools. It can then be turned on high for any remainder.

  • Oven Trays

  • Dry oven trays and tins in a still-warm oven after washing to prevent rust.

  • Oven Windows

  • Coat the window with lemon oil and let set for an hour. Scrub with SOS pad, rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.
