Bathroom - Cleaning the Toilet

  • For mild stains sprinkle baking soda into the bowl, then drizzle with vinegar. Leave until it is done fizzing then scour with a toilet brush.
  • For mild stains drop 2 denture tablets into the bowl, let them dissolve, brush, and flush.
  • For removing more stubborn stains and rings, mix Borax and enough lemon juice to form a paste. Flush the toilet to wet the sides, and then rub the paste into the ring or stain. Let sit for 2 hours and scrub thoroughly.
  • Use a wet pumice stone to scrub stains. You can buy a pumice stone made for cleaning porcelain or use a beauty stone.
  • Keep the toilet bowl ring-free by pouring a half-gallon of white vinegar in it once a month. Let it soak overnight before flushing.
  • If you're using an in the tank cleaner in the toilet, never add bleach. The two may have a bad chemical reaction.
  • To avoid clogging and odours, pour one cup baking soda down the bowl weekly.
  • keep a sheet of fabric softener behind your children's toilet, this way it will never smell as bad as it used to.

  • To clean the bowl pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl. Let sit for one hour, then brush and flush clean.
